Imported from New Zealand in 2023 Thistledown Belluno has a lovely, easy temperament like both his Sire, Surilana Silvertail and his Dam Thistledown Sorento, who are both calm, and quiet animals and easy to handle. Belluno stands on a well balanced and very strong frame with excellent substance of bone. His fleece has excellent length of lock, exquisite lustre with a lovely handle and soft cool feel due to its fineness and uniform of micron, a trait common in all Thistledown breeding. Belluno’s Grandmother Thistledown Damali had amazing density and lustre which has been passed down and is clear to see in Belluno’s progeny.

Thistledown Belluno has a number of progeny on the ground in New Zealand and his true black son Shadow Wood Bessano at just 6 months old won the Suri Best of Colour trophy (similar to a colour supreme), Champion Black Suri and Res Champion best junior male, at the Waikato show in New Zealand so his progeny is really making an impact!

Belluno’s Dam, Thistledown Sorento is one of Thistledown’s best breeding females and is the Dam of multiple champions in NZ.

Thistledown Belluno’s progeny hit the BAS National Show in 2025 with a storm, winning Champion Black Male and Reserve Champion Brown Female.
