Shows & Events
An opportunity to showcase alpacas to other breeders and the public.
We support a national network of shows, both fleece and halter, enabling breeders to compete with their alpacas against other herds from all over the country which helps advance breeding programmes thus improving the standard of the national herd.
The shows are run according to BAS rules, which are updated each year. The Breed Standard describes ideal characteristics of alpacas and is available here.
Alpaca shows
Alpaca shows take the form of halter classes of fully fleeced, short fleeced, or composites of fleece and halter classes (depending on the time of year) for both huacaya and suri.
The British Alpaca Society National Show
The highlight of the alpaca showing year is the BAS National Show which is held each year in March.
Events
BAS and Regional Groups and individual breeders run a variety of events around the country, including open days, conferences, training and educational events and webinars.
All shows and events are listed in our calendar.
Show Results
All of the halter and fleece show results are categorised by year.
