BAS Training Courses

Alpaca Evaluation

A one day course on alpaca conformation and fibre.

Covering:

Basic conformation including teeth, stature, genitalia, legs, gait and body scoring;
Fleece – how to recognise the different qualities and traits of fibre including weight and value, fineness, density, crimp, uniformity, length, colour, amplitude and frequency and an introduction to histograms. You will have the opportunity to assess fleeces and discuss the merits of different qualities and styles.

Course notes will be provided including a glossary of terms.

There will be a maximum of 12 people on the day.

Cost: BAS Members £ 65 + VAT Non Members £85 + VAT

This course will only run if there is a minimum of 8 people.

Regional groups are encouraged to arrange for this course to be held locally for the benefit of their members.

Alpaca Assessment (Foundation)

Alpaca assessment (foundation): A two day course for BAS members on assessing alpaca conformation and fleece. This course is a comprehensive package in basic alpaca assessment and applicable to all, as well as being a prerequisite for those wishing to enter the BAS judge training scheme.

This course will cover basic husbandry and care, including feeding, vaccinations, worm treatment, parasite control, supplements and shearing information. It will also cover handling, catching and training.

We will limit the course to around 8 students and so, with two trainers, you will get plenty of opportunity to practice your new skills with the alpacas at Mullacott.

Whatever the reason you want to make money from your alpacas, the new course at Mullacott Alpacas will help you turn those dreams into reality.

The course will cover choosing the right line(s) of business for you; how to sell your services/products; your brand and USP (unique selling point); marketing and publicity; turning leads into firm business. Then there are all the practicalities – insurance, risk assessment, finances, contracts, tax, VAT, type of company etc.

By the end of the day you will have a plan in place to actually make your dreams come true.

Kate is a qualified coach and trainer, with extensive experience in helping others to start and build their own business.
