Processing
There are several ways of processing alpaca fibre:
Hand spinning
Hand spinning is the oldest and most traditional method of turning alpaca fibre into yarn. Unlike sheep’s wool, alpaca can be spun directly from the fleece without the need for scouring.
Commercial Processing
To process small quantities of fibre breeders use small scale mills willing & able to take individual fleeces as well as much larger quantities. There are several mills in the UK who process various quantities of fibre.
