Handling
With a calm and sensible approach alpacas are easy to handle
- Handling is easier to carry out in a small area, e.g. a catch pen.
- A calm, quiet and gentle approach is essential.
- Alpacas can be taught to lead on a halter. Which makes all handling much easier.
- It is very important that an alpaca’s head collar fits correctly. Advice on halters and fitting can be downloaded here.
- The more alpacas are handled, the more they will become accustomed to it.
