With a calm and sensible approach alpacas are easy to handle

Handling is easier to carry out in a small area, e.g. a catch pen.
A calm, quiet and gentle approach is essential.
Alpacas can be taught to lead on a halter. Which makes all handling much easier.
It is very important that an alpaca’s head collar fits correctly. Advice on halters and fitting can be downloaded here.
The more alpacas are handled, the more they will become accustomed to it.
